Nerv Linux is built by Nerv Dynamics AB. This page is who that is, and why a company this small decided to build an operating system from the C library up.
Why build the whole base
Because the alternative is to inherit decisions. A distribution assembled from another project’s choices carries that project’s roadmap, its licensing, its allocator, and its idea of what a userland is for. None of those were chosen for a machine with 128 GB of unified memory and an accelerator that outweighs the CPU, because none of them were chosen for any machine in particular.
A system that knows its hardware by part number inherits a freedom it did nothing to earn. The only interesting question is what it spends that freedom on. The answer is the reason this company exists: a coherent base, a boundary with authority over compute, and a machine that can account for itself.

What the name means
The system remembers. The line describes the software literally. The machine keeps its own record: what it was composed from, which generation you chose, which bytes are yours and which are rebuildable residue, and where a given piece of work actually ran. Those properties are why this system exists at all.
The other half of the promise is more useful day to day: you can ask it why. A machine that records what it did can answer questions about itself. Without that record you operate by inference.

Nerv Dynamics AB is a Swedish limited company. Development happens on self-hosted infrastructure, against a canary machine that is the same hardware the system targets.
